Far removed from cinema clichés, a private detective works within a diversity of activities such as investigating counterfeits, cases of insurance companies being swindled, family cases, disloyal competition, theft within companies, searching missing persons (for example in the case of inheritance), requests for complementary information for judiciary files, etc.
The obligations and rights of a detective are regulated by the current law and can be referred to on the website www.vigilis.be. It should be noted that we are obliged to report to the police any crimes or illegal activities witnessed whilst we are working. In the same way, if it is noticed during an investigation that the ultimate intention is illegitimate, the contract is immediately ruptured.
The cost of a mission? The detective’s tariff is given in the convention which must be signed by both the client and the detective. Any modifications due to supplementary costs incurred will be made by means of an endorsement.
The results? The detective is engaged in terms of means and not by results. We realize however that positive results achieved by the investigator are a guarantee and a generator of his good reputation!
